This term, my grades are still as bad, most likely because I didn't memorise all the scientific terms. For this term, we learnt physics, light, and how to draw ray diagrams, as well as the properties of light. Light is a simple topic, but ray diagrams have stringent requirements such as arrows, marks and labels that must be put in, which is the main reason why I didn't do well for Science.
The first thing we learnt about light was the basic one, light travels in straight lines. However, it refracts in cases such as travelling into a different medium of different refractive index, like air and water. In these cases, light does not travel straight, but instead bends. Also, there are angles which are critical, and what they do is that if light hits the material at critical angles or any angle larger, refraction along the surface of the material or total internal reflection happens.
There are also ray diagrams, and convex and concave lenses. Convex lenses converge light rays, while concave lenses do the opposite. In a ray diagram, three rays are drawn to the lens, and then depending o the focal length and situation, we have to draw the resulting image.
Finally, light can be separated into 7 colours, the colours of the rainbow. This is why we can see colours, as the object/person reflects the colours that we see into our eyes.
For my term test, I did badly, due to the reasons stated in the first paragraph. I do hope to do better in my EOYs, and I shall aim for an A2. Of course, I will do lots of studying and brush up on my chemistry.
