Term 2 reflection

Term 2 was a really bad term for me, as I didn't fully understand ecology, which partly explained how I got such bad marks. The other reason was the 8 marks chemistry section included in the test, which I totally did not know how to answer. Term 2 was about biology and ecology. Biology was a rather easy topic, as all you have to do is to memorise the menstrual cycle, the reproductive system's scientific terms, and about pregnancies. Whereas for ecology, it is still pretty easy, but I had a few concepts wrong.

The first thing that was taught was biology. We went through a powerpoint about human reproduction in general, followed by the male and female reproductive parts. Next, we learnt about the reproduction process, how the blood flows into the erectile tissues, and so on. We then went through the menstrual cycle, and learnt how the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone allow the menstrual cycle to proceed.  Finally, we were taught about STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) such as gonorrhoea and HIV, and birth control devices and methods.

The next topic was ecology. We learnt about populations and ecosystems and how every living thing is linked together, how surroundings affect the animals living in it, and how animals and plants adapt to suit their environments. We also learnt the carbon cycle. Most exciting of all, we had a trip to MacRitchie reservoir, and got to see the relationship between the animals in their habitat first-hand.

Unfortunately, I had a bad test score, most likely due to the chemistry section where I lost the full 8 marks, and at the ecology section where I lost another couple of marks.I had a C5 for this test, which was really bad as my classmates had way higher scores than me.
